Police arrest student who kidnapped his blood sister alongside his two friends in Jalingo.
When police arrest student, it is often of great repercussion. So is the case of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) in Taraba state, who arrested two students of Modibbo Adama University Yola, and Adamawa state University who were said to have kidnapped a ten years old girl.
One of the suspected student AbdulBasit Umar, is said to be an elder brother to the ten years old innocent “Amina Umar”.
According to the Nigeria Police, AbdulBasit Umar a 200 level Geology student, conspired with two of his friends, to carry out the despicable act.
AbdulBasit Umar and his cohorts were arrested while they were receiving the 4million naira ransom they placed on the ten years old little girl in Jalingo after being tracked. The police public relation officer Taraba command DSP David Misal said this while parading the suspects alongside 19 other suspected armed robbers and kidnappers.
He said that Abdul Basit and two of his accomplices, a 21-year-old Adamawa State University undergraduate, Mubi, Abdullahi Habib, and one Sadiq Dalhatu had tricked the girl into a car with registration number MKF 67 JK Kaduna and taken her to a hotel in Mayo Dassa in Jalingo where she was held captive.https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/two-undergraduates-nabbed-for-kidnapping.html
DSP Misal clarified that the perpetrators later called the girl’s parents and demanded ransom of N10million but reduced the amount to N4million.
Nevertheless, he said the telephone number that the suspects used to demand the ransom was tracked leading to their arrest when they received the ransom.
